From the Artist’s Desk
For this piece, I depicted three categories of behavioural bias, cognitive, emotional, and heuristic, as a vintage scientific diagram. Symbolic forms and handwritten annotations highlight examples from each category.
The authority suggested by this familiar schematic style contrasts with the fundamentally unscientific nature of cognitive bias. Our mental shortcuts and emotions can distort rational decision-making, even when we believe we are thinking objectively.
